1 Peter 2:13-18.
Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God. Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king. Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.

Thank you, Father, for being in control even when we don’t see it. Thank you for laying out your will plainly for us. Help us to do your will and obey those in authority over us.

Thank you for providing us with a country that was founded on faith in you and principles of your word. Teach us to act as FREE people – not for evil but give us the power to do what is right and good.

Lord, today during the special election, I especially lift up the local leaders. Be with the city counsel members and mayors. Teach them righteousness and kindness. Open their hearts to do good and to allow believers to live safely in the Sacramento – Elk Grove area. Be with the governor, legislators and senators. Protect them from evil influences. Cause them to listen to the direction that will bring peace and protection for believers and nonbelievers. Restrain evil and do not let it succeed in Sacramento and Elk Grove.

I lift up the election today. Bring out the voters who will vote for righteousness. We don’t know the path that you want us to go in or how you want us to vote. Give us discernment to know when commercials are lying and telling the truth. Work through the election to bring about your will.

Father, I ask that you cause the city and state leaders to be sensitive to justice and mercy. Pull them in that direction. Protect them from influences that pull them away from justice and mercy.

In your precious name,
amen
